My Introduction To The Wall
This week was another rough week for us. We went out in the warm-ups to make sure the car
was good and everything went fine. The heat race was another story. I started in 7th on
the first lap there was a huge altercation coming off of turn two and I saw about 3 cars
going sideways in front of me, the next thing I knew I hit the number 110 car and that
threw me to the wall. My car was still running after impact so I crawled it into the pits
with a flat left front tire to find my crew chugging Pepsi's and lounging. Here at GAR
Motorsports we never rehearsed pit stops, but us being fast learners, figured it out
QUICKLY. Got out there with time to waste, "good job guys, let's remember to bring
the impact next week." The wall shot turns out to be pretty critical with some welds
cracked, another front axel bent along with some nuts and bolts bent. Also we destroyed
our first door and it will be up for auction on e-bay next month.
Anyways, in the rest of the heat I raced my heart out for that sixth
place qualifying spot but my right front hub bearing was shot and that just ruined me.
Consilation time and I started 4th. But man it was tough and I was up with all the fast
cars and they don't take it kindly when there is 18 cars and only 8 qualify. The third
turn was the worst I have ever seen for this coming week, I already bought a visor.
Highlights of the week. I met some new guys from PA. In the 00 subway
sponsored sportsman cars. These guys are great and I had a lot of fun with them, they will
now be racing at Bridgeport weekly. Basically the father, the car owner, bought two 99
olsen cars from Billy Decker and there is a group of high school graduates like myself who
put these cars together. Good luck to them and I'm sure I just made some long term
friends. Thanks Guys and Gals cya at the track.
