G.A.R. Motorsports
Team News: April 1, 2003
The 2003 season is now underway. It all started off on Sunday, March
16th
at Bridgeport Speedway. That was practice day and everything went pretty
good for both Rob Pierce and Adam Schwegel.
Rob and Adam both got to get a feel of their cars for the 2003 season.
They
agreed that it was a good day for everyone. Track was great, both cars were
great, and both drivers felt comfortable. What more can you ask for. They
knew from the start that this was going to be a pretty good season, but
maybe they spoke too soon.
Opening day at Bridgeport Speedway started off on Sunday, March 23rd.
As
said before we all thought it was going to start off well, but like the
saying goes, dont count your chickens before they hatch.
Heat time came for Rob Pierce in the #88. Everything was going well
until
he met the juke tire in turn 3. The tow truck drivers had him in the pits
before the heat had gone green for a complete lap again. He had a bent front
axle and a few other bent parts. The crew worked real hard to get him back
out, and we did get him back out there. It was just a little too late and
Rob decided to pull it into the infield and try it out in the consi.
Consi time was now here for Rob and sometimes you just dont have
much hope
when you are starting last in a field of 15 cars and they are only taking 4
to qualify. Rob started off very well and worked his way up into the top 5.
At the end of the consi Rob was one spot out of the qualifying position.
Heat time came for Adam Schwegel in the #8JR. Everything was going
pretty
good until there was a minor altercation on the track. Adam got caught up in
it and that ended his day. He was unable to get back on the track for the
consi
This coming weekend will be a much better weekend for both Rob and
Adam.
They will both be back in full force, ready to race.
